Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing physical therapy services to students in PreK-12 schools, helping them improve mobility, strength, and function under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT).

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting assessments of students' motor skills, mobility, strength, range of motion, and functional abilities.
  • Implement individualized physical therapy interventions and treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually and in groups, focusing on improving gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and motor planning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to integrate therapy goals into students' educational plans and classroom activities.
  • Monitor students' progress and document therapy sessions, progress reports, and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications to support students' mobility and function.
  • Support the PT in educating school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies and techniques to promote students' physical development and functional skills.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and provide input regarding students' physical therapy needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
  • Previous experience working as a PTA in a pediatric or school setting.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy principles, theories, and interventions relevant to children and adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and related service providers.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.

Physical Requirements (Working in a School Setting):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move around in various areas of the school facility. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents both verbally and in writing. The employee may need to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and may occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Additionally, the employee must have the physical stamina to supervise and engage with students throughout the school day.
