Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing high-quality educational services to students with hearing impairments, collaborating with school staff, and ensuring compliance with all educational standards and guidelines.

 

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and educational best practices.
  • Utilize and integrate assistive technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems, into instruction to support students' learning.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to create an inclusive educational environment.
  • Provide support and training to school staff and families on effective communication strategies and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' strengths, needs, and progress, and participate in IEP meetings to develop and review educational goals.
  • Stay informed about advancements in assistive technology and educational methodologies for students with hearing impairments.
  • Advocate for students' needs and ensure adherence to federal, state, and district policies related to special education.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other forms of manual communication.
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology and auditory-visual teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in telepractice or online instruction.
  • Experience working with students with additional disabilities or needs.

Physical Requirements (Remote Work):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods and use a computer keyboard and mouse for typing and navigating software applications. The employee must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues and clients. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
