Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing occupational therapy services to students in PreK-12 schools, supporting their participation in meaningful activities and promoting independence in daily life skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting assessments of students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and activities of daily living.
  • Implement individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually and in groups, targeting areas such as handwriting, motor coordination, self-care skills, and sensory regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to integrate therapy goals into students' educational plans and classroom activities.
  • Monitor students' progress and document therapy sessions, progress reports, and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the selection and fabrication of adaptive equipment and assistive technology to support students' participation and independence.
  • Support the OT in educating school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies and techniques to promote students' occupational performance and functional skills.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and provide input regarding students' occupational therapy needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant (OTA) from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Previous experience working as a COTA in a pediatric or school setting.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, theories, and interventions relevant to children and adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and related service providers.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.

Physical Requirements (Working in a School Setting):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move around in various areas of the school facility. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents both verbally and in writing. The employee may need to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and may occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Additionally, the employee must have the physical stamina to supervise and engage with students throughout the school day.
